Our Team

     Pastor Stephan has been a cherished member of the Highland Park community since 1971. Having grown up in this close-knit family, he passionately embraces the genuine sense of kinship that defines Highland Park. His journey with faith began in childhood, as he felt an ever-growing love for Jesus and a desire to deepen his connection with Him, recognizing the profound impact on every facet of his life.

     Surprisingly, becoming a pastor wasn’t initially on his radar; he found contentment serving discreetly behind the organ in the old sanctuary. However, when God called him to lead the church, he embraced the belief encapsulated in 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 – “God Doesn’t Call the Qualified; He Qualifies the Called.” Each day serves as confirmation of God’s calling on his life, and Stephan is forever grateful for the opportunity to serve and glorify Him.

     Stephan’s love story with Laura unfolded at Highland Park, and despite the challenging times of COVID, they tied the knot in May 2020. Blessed by their combined family of four beautiful children—TJ, Ashley, Frank, and Synthia—along with two shih-tzus, a holland lop bunny, and even two grandpuppies, their family enjoys quality time together while actively serving God in their daily lives. Beyond their family life, Stephan finds joy in playing softball and cheering for the Angels in baseball and the 49ers in football. Laura, on the other hand, delights in singing, transformational life coaching, and expressing her creativity through painting.

     Both Pastor Stephan and Laura are ordained through the National Association of Christian Ministers, and they continually invest in their knowledge through Light University to better support the community and the world around them. Their commitment to education reflects their dedication to making a positive impact on those they serve.
