“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” – 2 Kings 6:16, NIV

Elisha was a prophet living in Israel. When another king tried to attack Israel, Elisha knew it. He warned the king of Israel and the nation was spared many ambushes and attacks. Finally, the king of Aram grew frustrated. He called his officers in, insisting that someone must be telling the king of Israel about his plans. He demanded to know who the spy in the room was. One man pointed him toward Elisha, saying that he “tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom” (2 Kings 6:12). Then the king of Aram decided to capture Elisha and end the problem. He rode into the city under the cover of night and surrounded it so Elisha would have no hope of escape. When Elisha’s servant glanced out over the city the next morning, his knees started quaking. He quickly told the prophet what he could see. While his servant was focused on the physical army, Elisha focused on the unseen army around them. The battle wasn’t physical at all…it was a Spiritual battle between good and evil.

In this story of Elisha, we witness a profound truth that resonates through the ages: the reality of spiritual battles. Elisha, a faithful prophet, found himself at the heart of one such battle. When the king of Aram sought to capture him, Elisha’s servant was gripped by fear as he saw the physical army surrounding them. But Elisha, with eyes attuned to the spiritual realm, saw beyond the visible threat. He recognized the presence of a mighty unseen army, fighting on their behalf.

Often, like Elisha’s servant, we find ourselves fixated on the tangible challenges before us. We pray fervently for breakthroughs, for healing, for deliverance, yet the obstacles persist. It’s in these moments of apparent defeat that doubt creeps in, questioning the effectiveness of our prayers.

But let us be reminded: our battles are not merely physical; they are spiritual. Just as Elisha was surrounded by a heavenly host, so too are we. Our prayers are not uttered into a void; they are heard by the Almighty, who commands an army of angels. Even when we cannot see the outcome, we can trust in the victory already won on our behalf.

As we navigate our own spiritual battles, let us echo the prayer of Elisha: “God, open my eyes to the Spiritual realm.” May we perceive the divine presence that surrounds us, empowering us to stand firm in faith. Let us take comfort in the assurance that we are not alone in our struggles, for the greatest Warrior fights alongside us.

In our moments of weakness, may we find strength in the knowledge that God is fighting for us. Let us relinquish our fears and uncertainties, surrendering them to the One who reigns victorious. And as we intercede for others, may we trust in God’s sovereignty, believing that He is working all things together for good.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank you for the reminder that we are not alone in our battles. Help us to fix our eyes on the unseen reality of Your presence and Your power. Strengthen our faith to trust in Your victory, even when the odds seem stacked against us. We surrender our fears and doubts to You, knowing that You are fighting for us. And we lift up our loved ones, asking for Your peace and comfort to surround them in their times of need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Remember, you are not fighting alone. The unseen army of heaven surrounds you, and the victory is already yours. Trust in God’s power, and He will lead you through every spiritual battle victoriously.

Blessings, Pastor Stephan
