2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

What a promise of hope and restoration these words carry!

In the bustling city of New York, there stands a testament to the power of faith and prayer: the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, led by Pastor Jim Cymbala. With over 16,000 members and a renowned choir that has garnered international acclaim, one might be tempted to assume that success came easily. But if we look back through the annals of time, we find a different story—a story of humble beginnings and steadfast faith.

Decades ago, the Brooklyn Tabernacle was but a small gathering of less than 20 people, struggling to make ends meet. The congregation couldn’t even afford the mortgage for the building they had purchased. Pastor Jim, a man not trained in the halls of seminary, led this tiny congregation with a heart ablaze for God. They faced financial hardships and empty pews, yet they clung to one thing: prayer.

Oh, the power of prayer! Pastor Jim often speaks of it as the cornerstone of their journey. In his book, “Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire,” he shares the story of how this church, once small and struggling, became a beacon of hope through the simple act of prayer. They prayed fervently, around the clock, lifting up the needs of others and seeking God’s face without ceasing.

So, what is the secret to their success? It lies not in grand schemes or worldly strategies but in the humble act of kneeling before the throne of grace.

Let us, too, be inspired by their example. Let us humble ourselves before our Heavenly Father, acknowledging our dependence on Him alone. Let us become prayer warriors, interceding for the needs of others and seeking His will above all else.

As we bow our heads in prayer, let us echo the heartfelt plea: “God, fill me with a desire for You! Turn me into a prayer warrior and show me how to intercede for others. Let me take every need and want to Your Throne. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

May we never underestimate the power of prayer, for it is through prayer that we tap into the unlimited resources of heaven. Let us go forth, hearts filled with faith and lips tuned to praise. For with God, all things are possible!

In the name of Jesus, our ever-present help, Amen.

Blessings, Pastor Stephan
